Patients can also upload daily photos of themselves or their loved ones. The purpose of this interactive forum is to provide information on current symptoms, medical issues, and medical treatment regimens. The conversations are moderated by trained professionals committed to giving patients and their families accurate, pertinent, and timely information. In most cases, the conversations are carried out anonymously.

Suppose a patient or a family member feels uncomfortable going to a hospital in person to discuss their health care needs. In that case, they may wish to log onto the Internet and participate in an online forum. Numerous websites feature ICU chat rooms. Through these websites, patients and their family members can interact safely, without fear of being judged or with little risk of having their conversation labeled as drug-use related. Chat rooms can be monitored or controlled by the patient’s family members to ensure that patient information is kept confidential.
